Georgetown is growing, bringing new creative pathways, and that growth brings opportunity—but it must be planned and managed thoughtfully. I believe in a smart growth approach that balances progress with preservation to meet our community needs and ensure we don't lose the character that makes our community Georgetown special.

That means protecting prime farmland through intentional, comprehensive planning to preserve prime farmland while also respecting personal property rights. It also means maintaining our greenbelt, preserving clear separation from Lexington, and identifying and protecting the historic districts and properties that reflect our community's identity and continuing to tell our story. Growth should strengthen Georgetown—not overwhelm it.

As Georgetown continues to grow, ensuring access to housing that meets the needs of our residents is critical. Affordability: I recognize that "affordability" looks different for different people—from workforce housing and starter homes to a balanced mix of rental and homeownership options. I support a thoughtful, balanced housing strategy that includes both single-family and multi-family development, is guided by thoughtful planning, and creates walkable neighborhoods. Walkable, mixed-use connected neighborhoods should provide usable green space where neighbors can gather and connect.

We should also work with property owners to identify and interact as a community. Identify nonproductive properties that pose safety risks and evaluate opportunities with owners for repair and revitalization, risk to removal, or potential for redevelopment. By encouraging infill development alongside new projects and leveraging sustainable public-private partnerships, we can expand housing options while maintaining the integrity of our neighborhoods.

With growth comes increased demand on our roads and infrastructure, so we need to stay ahead of it. I support proactive, coordinated planning to ensure traffic flow, connectivity, and infrastructure keep pace with development. With so many state roadways running through our community, we should work closely and proactively with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to advance local transportation in support of our community goals; facilitate our thriving downtown business/residential district, improve and streamline smooth traffic flow around & through the community, and provide more off- street parking to make downtown more walkable, shop able, livable, accessible, and drivable.

By aligning proactive transportation improvements with our Comprehensive Plan, we can build a more efficient and accessible system that supports residents, businesses, and future growth—without relying on reactive, short-term fixes.

A safe community starts with strong support and communication with those who serve it. I am committed to ensuring Georgetown's police, fire, dispatch, and emergency responders have the staffing, facilities, and resources they need to meet the demands of a growing population. This includes investing in training, equipment, and competitive compensation to attract and retain skilled professionals.

By prioritizing preparedness, capacity, and community interaction, we can continue to make Georgetown a community where residents feel safe and supported.

Responsible leadership requires careful stewardship of taxpayer dollars. I am committed to transparent, accountable budgeting practices that prioritize long-term stability. This includes reasonable income projections based on conversations with the revenue commission, business community, and community economic dynamics.

Expense projections should be based on actual spending and planned growth needs, not just past budgets plus. Clear monthly Income/Budget/Actual Expense reporting, thoughtful budget planning, and reserving budget amendments for true exceptions or emergencies—not routine adjustments.

By maintaining fiscal discipline, we can continue to grow, providing for the needs of the community while keeping taxes stable and predictable for residents and businesses.

Georgetown's history is one of our greatest assets, and preserving it helps protect our community; telling our story is essential to protecting our community's identity. I believe we should thoughtfully identify and protect historic sites, significant properties, and cultural landmarks that tell our city's story.

As Georgetown grows, we have a responsibility to ensure new development complements—not replaces the character that has made our community unique for generations. By balancing preservation with progress, we can honor our past while building a strong future.

The decisions we make today will shape Georgetown for decades to come. I believe our city deserves a clear, long-term vision that guides growth with purpose rather than simply reacting to it as it happens in 5-year comprehensive plans or election cycles.

Vision 2020 was a step towards that objective, but it's now 2026! That means we need to engage residents and the economic drivers in meaningful conversations, develop a community plan, and make decisions based on a community plan that is best for the community as a whole. By developing the short-, mid-, and long-term vision for Georgetown and /Scott County, we can create our North Star for 2050.

By planning intentionally and listening to the people who call Georgetown home, we can build a future that reflects our shared values and creates lasting entrepreneurial opportunities for generations to come.
